Aeon Protect Eye Drops
Aeon Protect is a lubricating eye drop formulated to provide relief for anyone with mild to moderate dry eye. It contains sodium hyaluronate 0.3% with PEG 400, is phosphate free, and uses SCO, a second generation preservative that dissipates into components naturally found in tears when exposed to light, meaning the drop is preservative free on the eye.
How it works
Sodium hyaluronate holds water against the surface of the eye, which steadies the tear film and reduces the grittiness, burning and tired feeling that come with dryness. PEG 400 adds a lubricating layer so blinking is more comfortable. Because the SCO technology leaves no conventional preservative on the eye, it does not cause the surface damage associated with first generation preserved drops.
How to use it
Wash your hands, tilt your head back and pull the lower lid down gently. Instil one drop into the pocket formed, then blink to spread it. Repeat in the other eye if needed, and use as often as directed on the pack. If you wear contact lenses, follow the instructions on the carton regarding when the drops can be used.
Who it is for
It suits adults with mild to moderate dry eye, including dryness linked to screen work, air conditioning, contact lens wear or dry indoor air. It is not intended for eye infections, injury or sudden loss of vision.
Safety and when to get advice
See an optometrist or doctor if you have eye pain rather than discomfort, light sensitivity, discharge, a change in vision, or dryness that is not improving with regular lubricants. Do not touch the nozzle against the eye or any surface, and follow the discard period on the pack once opened. Our UK pharmacy team can answer questions about this product before you buy.

How often can I use it?
Follow the pack instructions. Lubricating drops are generally used as often as comfort requires.
Can I use it with contact lenses?
Check the carton, which states whether the drops can be instilled while lenses are in place.
What is the difference from Aeon Protect Plus?
Protect is formulated for mild to moderate dry eye. Protect Plus uses cross linked sodium hyaluronate for moderate to severe dryness.
