FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is the difference between a caplet and a standard tablet?

A caplet is a tablet with a smooth, elongated shape and a coated surface, which some people find easier to swallow than a round tablet. The active ingredient and dose are the same as a standard 500mg paracetamol tablet.

Can I take these alongside other medicines that contain paracetamol?

No. Many cold and flu remedies, co-codamol, and other combination painkillers already contain paracetamol. Taking extra paracetamol on top can lead to a dangerous overdose. Always check the ingredients of anything else you are taking.

What is the maximum dose for adults?

Adults and children aged 16 and over: one or two caplets every four to six hours as needed, up to a maximum of eight caplets (4g) in 24 hours. Do not exceed this amount even if you are still in pain.

Why is paracetamol overdose dangerous even if you feel fine?

Paracetamol overdose can cause serious liver damage, but symptoms may not appear until several days later, by which time permanent harm may have occurred. If you think you or someone else may have taken too much, seek medical attention immediately even if you feel well.
