Foundayo (orforglipron) is a once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist developed by Eli Lilly, and the UK's MHRA approved Foundayo on 10 August 2026, making the UK the first country in Europe to license it. Unlike injectable GLP-1 medications or oral semaglutide, Foundayo can be taken at any time of day as a simple tablet, with no injections, no fasting, and no food or water restrictions.

Is Foundayo right for you?
Foundayo is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above if you also have a weight-related condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or raised cholesterol, when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is also licensed to improve blood sugar control in adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes. Our clinicians will check your eligibility as part of your consultation.

How it works
The active ingredient, orforglipron, is a non-peptide small-molecule that activates GLP-1 receptors in the brain. This reduces your appetite, slows how quickly your stomach empties, and helps you feel satisfied for longer after eating. The result is fewer cravings and a more manageable relationship with food, which makes lifestyle changes far easier to stick to.

What the clinical evidence shows
Foundayo has been studied through Eli Lilly's ATTAIN clinical trial programme. In the ATTAIN-1 trial, patients on the highest dose who stayed on treatment lost an average of 12.4% of their body weight over 72 weeks, with more than half of participants losing at least 10% of their body weight and around 4 in 10 losing at least 15%. The trials also showed improvements in several cardiovascular risk markers, including waist circumference, non-HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and systolic blood pressure, across all doses. A separate ACHIEVE-3 study found Foundayo produced greater weight loss than oral semaglutide in adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes.

Your treatment with Rightangled
We're a regulated UK pharmacy and prescribing service, which means every prescription is reviewed by one of our GMC registered clinicians, not algorithms. Most assessments are reviewed the same day. Your medication is dispensed from our GPhC registered pharmacy and arrives in discreet packaging, and our clinical team is available throughout your treatment if you have questions or concerns.

Your dosing schedule
Treatment starts low and increases gradually so your body has time to adjust. You'll begin on 0.8 mg once daily, then move up to 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg, 14.5 mg, and finally 17.2 mg as your maintenance dose. Each step lasts at least one month, though your clinician may slow this down if you're experiencing side effects, or keep you on a lower dose if it's working well for you.

What to expect from side effects
The most common side effects are digestive: nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, dyspepsia, and abdominal pain. They're usually mild, tend to settle over time, and are most noticeable just after a dose increase. Eating smaller meals more often and staying well hydrated makes a real difference for most people.

When Foundayo isn't suitable
Foundayo isn't right for everyone. As with other GLP-1 medicines, the label carries a warning about thyroid C-cell tumours seen in animal studies (not confirmed in humans). You shouldn't take it if you or a close family member has a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), or if you've had a serious allergic reaction to orforglipron. It also isn't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Discontinue Foundayo when pregnancy is recognised and speak to your GP before trying to conceive.

Getting started
Start with our short online consultation. It takes around five minutes and asks about your health, medical history, and weight loss goals. One of our clinicians will review your answers, usually within hours, and if Foundayo is suitable for you we'll dispense your prescription and send it out from our UK pharmacy with next day delivery available.

Foundayo or Mounjaro?
Both are effective weight loss treatments, but they work differently and suit different people. Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection that acts on two hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). Foundayo is a once-daily oral tablet acting on GLP-1 alone, offering greater convenience for those who prefer no injections and no timing restrictions. Your clinician will help you decide which is the better fit based on your goals, medical history, and preferences.

Foundayo is a prescription-only medicine and must be prescribed following a proper medical assessment. Foundayo is not currently available via the NHS; NHS availability would follow a separate NICE health technology appraisal.

This service is provided by Rightangled in partnership with Medetone pharmacy, regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Care Quality Commission. Foundayo™ is a registered trademark of Eli Lilly and Company.
