Wegovy weight loss injection

Wegovey contains active ingredient Semaglutide injectable medication under the skin. Used to manage weight loss with diet and exercise. It is the first FDA approved and UK authorised medicine for obesity since 2014.

Several studies have shown that Wegovy is effective at helping people lose weight. In three of the studies, participants were people who had previously tried and failed to lose weight and had a BMI of at least 30 kg/m2 or a BMI of at least 27 kg/m2 plus a weight-related health condition. These studies found that people treated with Wegovy were able to lose an average of 15% of their body weight after 68 weeks, compared to a 2% weight loss in the placebo group. In addition, 84% of the Wegovy group lost at least 5% of their body weight, compared to 31% in the placebo group.

A fourth study involving people with type 2 diabetes found that those treated with Wegovy were able to lose an average of 10% of their body weight after 68 weeks, compared to a 3% weight loss in the placebo group. 67% of the Wegovy group lost at least 5% of their body weight, compared to 30% in the placebo group. This study also found that the effects of Wegovy were maintained over the first 20 weeks, but that people needed to continue taking the medication in order to avoid regaining weight.

Wegovy is a solution for injection that comes in pre-filled pens. It is administered once a week under the skin in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. The dosage starts at 0.25 mg and increases gradually over 16 weeks to 2.4 mg to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal symptoms. Patients can administer the medicine themselves and can change the injection site and the day of the weekly injection, as long as the new day is at least 3 days after the previous one. Wegovy is only available with a prescription.

The most common side effects associated with Wegovy are headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain.

The active ingredient in Wegovy, semaglutide, is a type of medication called a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It works by activating the GLP-1 receptors in the body, which are responsible for regulating appetite. 1.7 mg per week for weeks 13-16,

and 2.4 mg per week for week 17 and beyond.
