Femodette is a prescription only treatment. It is a combined oral contraceptive pill known as, ‘the Pill’. You take Femodette tablets to prevent pregnancy.

Fermodette contains two types of female sex hormones, oestrogen and progestogen. These hormones prevent pregnancy by stopping an egg being released from your ovaries; thickening the fluid in the cervix, and preventing the womb lining from thickening enough for an egg to grow in it.

Femodette is a 21-day pill which is taken each day for 21 days, followed by 7 days where no pills are taken. It is one of the most reliable contraception methods, if used correctly. It can make periods lighter, regular and less painful and may help with pre-menstrual symptoms. It will not protect you from sexually transmitted infections and needs to be taken as directed to prevent pregnancy.
